Potlucks
Potlucks are gatherings where individuals provide a single food dish that is shared with the entire group.
Public potlucks are not allowed per Oregon administrative Rules 3-201.11(B).
A private household preparing food is not an approved source and the food would not be allowed for public consumption.
Some options you may want to explore include:
- Everyone bringing their own dinner;
- Buying food that is commercially prepared;
- If the event is held at a community kitchen, obtain a temporary restaurant license from the Health Department and have someone prepare a big salad or soup to share, and then everyone else bring their own main dish; or
- Have ALL food served to the public prepared at the community kitchen so that the Health Department has the ability to inspect
